Edwina Laycock
Edwina began her career teaching English in Sri Lanka, Italy, Portugal and India, alongside working on summer programmes for international students in England. These experiences gave her a first-hand understanding of the opportunities and complexities of international education, as well as a deep appreciation for the role that language learning can play in connecting people across cultures.
Driven by a desire to explore the theory and practice behind effective language education, Edwina completed the Cambridge DELTA before going on to achieve an MA in International Education and Development. Her postgraduate study broadened her understanding of international education, development and the critical perspectives surrounding language, learning and educational systems.

Edwina subsequently moved into academic management, initially working with Nike Sports Camps before joining Bucksmore Education. Over six summers, she was a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading academic provision across the organisation, overseeing curriculum and teaching, contributing to key areas of operational leadership, and supporting safeguarding. Her experience spans both the strategic and practical dimensions of delivering high-quality education in complex, international environments.
At the heart of Edwina’s approach to curriculum and learning is a commitment to creating educational spaces where diverse voices, experiences and forms of knowledge are valued. She believes that international education should go beyond language acquisition and academic outcomes, equipping students with the skills and perspectives they need to engage thoughtfully with an increasingly interconnected world.
